At last the signs are there that the winter is gradually starting to leave us. The mornings are getting lighter and the cold seems not quite so penetrating as it was a few weeks ago. There are stirring's of life here, and once again we are starting to see that there is change in the air. And not just the fact that the cat is moulting AGAIN!

Bands are starting to release music again, as a DJ on Nightbreed Radio I am getting more and more new music to play. The promotion for the Summer and Autumn festivals is gradually starting to become more frequent and  dynamic. Two of the best festivals that come to mind are Alice's Wicked Tea Party with a truly eclectic mix of music and in a location famous for UFO sightings! It's small, independent, and open air. What more could anyone want?

Also The Bram Stoker Film Festival which is without doubt the most exiting and dynamic festival that completely celebrates the Gothic in it's truest and most complete sense. A wonderful and inspiring mixture of the BEST alternative/Gothic/Dark Rock bands around  as well as films, DJ's, alternative performers etc. It's the festival that the UK has been craving for!

Other similar festivals of note that are gradually kicking into promo gear are The Dark Waters festival in Nottingham and Sacrosanct  in Reading. I expect that over the next few weeks and months we will hear  a lot more from the above festivals as well as many others yet tbc.

Another one to look forward to is The Kissing Skull Festival which is inspired by the 20th anniversary of the release of Midnight Configuration's The Kissing Skull. Plans are gradually being drawn and we hope to make an announcement regarding the mini festival soon.

So what's new in the world of Nightbreed?

Arcane Winter.

Still working on the recording of "Welcome To Winter" the band's debut full length album which will be released in both digital and physical formats and to be released in late summer 2015. Its been over a year in the making, but trust me, It will turn heads when it's released! An onslaught of Post Punk Gothic power and darkened sensibilities the like has not been seen since in many years. It will quite literally, blow the cobwebs away!
In the meantime, new single "Thirteen" is out on the 20th of Feb as a taster for the power that is to come.
Also. Arcane Winter are featured on a great new digital fundrasing compilation album. We have donated an EXCLUSIVE edit mix of a track to be released on our debut album. The track is called "Another Sorrow Edit" and it is an edited version of a track soon to be released. You can get ahead of the que and grab yourself a copy right here, as well as supporting a fantastic cause.

Death Party UK.

Working hard on the full length album which once again will be both digital and physical and out hopefully early Autumn 2015. No title yet but it's gradually percolating and will probably bubble up and make it's self known soon.  A new single is in the bag and will be announced soon. A couple of shows coming up and they are:
Antenna Nottingham 27th of Feb
South Seas Sheffield 7th of March

We are hoping to have some more dates confirming soon including the proposed live internet show!
Also. Death Party UK are featured on a great new digital fundrasing compilation album. We have donated an EXCLUSIVE version of a track is called "Hellzapoppin" and it is an alternate version of our most recent single. So go out and grab it. What are you waiting for!

A few words about this compilation

"If everyone who reads this forks out at least £5.00 to get this comp. On Air Tunes will get some of the revenue it needs to keep buying licences etc, to keep updating the equipment needed to broadcast great underground music FOR FREE over the internet so that bands can have a platform to promote thier music to a global audience. So that people can find genuine music that has not been churned out at a plastic pop factory and autotuned to death! People often moan to me about the decline of the Gothic underground citing "how much better it was in the 80's/ 90's" (delete where applicable). Here's the thing, back in those days people had to buy records or cds, not just wait till something was released and then copy it or skank an mp3 from someone. Now with this compilation, its everyone's chance to make a difference and not just to sit there waiting for someone else to do something. We all need to work together to keep the fire burning!"

T Bamford Guitar Tutor.

All is going well, I picked up a new guitar the other day. A vintage 80's White Shadow off eBay. But the hamfisted Parcel Farce managed to damage the guitar and it is now at the Rock n Roll doctors for a full overhaul and a refit. But the end result will be worth it. There will be pictures and  a little guitar story soon.

My student list is filling up. If you want to book your tuition slot, get back to me soon! I was thinking of doing a couple of tutorial videos. Not sure what, in box me if you have any requests for things you might like me to cover. Alt tuning's scales use of effects?

T Bamford Furniture.

Wow its a busy world in the world of furniture at the moment. New stock is coming in every week and I took the recent break in the weather to get some of the stock photographed outside with my shiny new camera which was great. Its so much nicer to use  a decent camera, its like it does a lot of the work for you and the results are loads better.Crisp and clear.

Anyway, that's about it for the moment.More info in a couple of weeks time.BTW any feedback on this blog is most welcome.

February The Cruelest Month

6/2/2015

I have a thing about the month of February. It is, or always seems to be, the dog end of the year. Its cold, everyone has colds. Weird weather seems to happen at this time. There are few gigs or events (due to the damn weather probably) few releases and everyone seems under the kosh. The Xmas expense seems to be finally kicking in etc. Also a number of rubbish things seem to happen. And its cold, did I mention it was cold?
Anyway, lets attempt to chase the February blues away with a few bits of info from our musical world.

Arcane Winter.

With Nick the bass player on his annual trip to New Zealand the band are quietly working on completing the much promised full length album "Welcome To Winter". Just got to get 3 more tracks in the bag before the album can finally emerge. Oh, the digital single Thirteen is out on the 20th of Feb.

Death Party UK.

This month sees the band's debut live performance at Antenna in Nottingham as part of "Kitty Tray On Demand" on 27th of Feb. The band will be playing a short 15 min set which will be accompanied by a a backscreen projector illustrating each song as they progress through the set. So should be suitably mad! In addition to that the band are gradually piling up recorded tracks for the debut album to be released early autumn.

Midnight Configuration/The Kissing Skull Festival.

Talks concerning the "for one night only" reformation of Midnight Configuration to play the event named after the band's debut album released in 1995 are progressing and with any luck dates and line ups will be announced in late Feb  early March.

T Bamford Furniture.

There has been a large amount of stock just in, loads of cool items that are up to our standard and if I could, I would keep them all. But I can't so please come and give them some new homes. I am looking to upgrade the online shop every week with as many new items as I can get my hands on. Furniture is the new Rock n Roll! Furniture is the new black! Especially old furniture.
