Easter is almost here once again and with it the mass eating of chocolate eggs. A couple of questions though? Why does Easter "move". If it was all about when Jesus was resurrected, surely that was one day? It can't be moved, a bit like moving Christmas day around if it was not convenient for people? The second question, why the eggs? I imagine they represent the idea of birth, or at least the promise of birth. Also why chocolate? I don't think that there was much in the way of chocolate in the Holly Land at the time of Jesus's return from the dead? I wonder if a little paganism has not seeped into the public consiousness? Hmmmm (One ponders and one puts finger to chin)
How fast the year goes! Only a short time ago it was Christmas and all that it brings, good or bad. Now when I look at the calender I think.
"That time of year already?"
The thought then crosses your mind that you had better sort out all the plans you have for the coming year, previously you thought that you had loads of time to get tickets, book gigs, buy a winter coat (ulp). But now, suddenly the race is on! Got to book accommodation, pay for the car, make sure the tax return is done etc, etc.
Someone once said that as you get older time seems to go by faster. I think that is true. My days are a blur of activity and the weeks get gobbled up. Days seem like hours and weeks seem like days!
So what's happening in the world of Nightbreed?
The studio has apart from being used for the above, been the centre of recording interviews for Radio Gothic for both AW and DPUK. Radio Gothic is a great station who is helping to promote underground bands and I suggest that everyone give them a listen. The AW and DPUK interviews, if you missed them can be heard HERE and HERE.
Nightbreed Radio.
We were well stoked at the creation of the Nightbreed Radio apps for Android, Blackberry and iPhone and we welcome new listeners to the station as well as regular listeners who now have a great and convenient way of checking out the station.
New tracks, new shows, new listeners. Its a constant cycle of new material aimed at supporting the Gothic Underground. Expect things to continue as always in that department. Also look out for info on this year's World Goth Day coming soon.
Arcane Winter
Nick has just come back from his annual pilgrimage to New Zealand so we can now get the bass lines recorded for the songs Taste The Echo, No Way Back and Sister Shame. Whilst he was away we got busy laying down the drums and main guitar lines with a few keys to save time. Now we can get moving in order to get the last 3 tracks done for the album.
One thing to look out for though, we are considering having a listening party for all fans and friends of the band to help us decide which tracks make the album and also what order to put them. I think this may be part of our intended crowd funding project to finance the album. But more of that soon. Arcane Winter has just about finished recording their debut album "Welcome To Winter" and there will be an announcement soon regarding its release. Keep watching social media channels.
Death Party UK
We had a great show opening the Kitty Tray On Demand event at The Antenna Media on the 27th of Feb. Promoters were great, the other acts were great, the crowd were both understanding and great. The only thing that was less than great was the venue and staff. You can read more about what happened HERE and HERE.
We can also say that we have done a new photoshoot, expect more images soon and we have finished recording two more tracks for the debut album. Namely Skintight and Moving On. We are about to start work or writing and recording more material including another cover. Which will be announced soon! Death Party UK are to release their debut album a little later than AW. So it's not a surprise to say that they are about halfway through recording the album. However on the 10.4.15 DPUK will be releasing their second digital single "Mark Of The Vampire".
Oh, thanks go out to our friends The Danse Society who we also recently supported in Sheffield. Great gig for everyone all round!
T Bamford Guitar Tutor
Currently getting busy with the fingers doing their work on the rocking fretboards of loads of guitars in the studio. Welcome to new students and an open invitation to any potential new students out there! Its a great skill to play the guitar and its something no one can take away from you once you get the knack of it. So what are you waiting for? Give me a call and book some time with me and join the the rest of the happy string slingers in my studio. Always room for a few more!
My recently aquired Vox "White Shadow" guitar has been pressed into teaching service. I didn't realise but it is quite small and great for young hands who want to have a go at the electric guitar but a full sized guitar is a bit too much for them. It was great watching the faces of some of my younger students as they put into practice on an electric all the techniques I have taught them! I even inched up the volume when they were really rocking!
